This exercise misses the fundamental point that an artist arranges their tools in their studio in utterly unique ways to reflect their own wants NOT according to how something exists elsewhere.
PS lacks even the most basic interface customization capabilities.
CS4 – we’re stuck with tool bars/panels that are too bright (even PS elements has a better tool / panels in terms of correct level of low brightness )- also with very fixed / constrained docking formation capabilities –
I want to be able to customize the layout of EVERYTHING then apply themes like this ON TOP of that. DO YOU GET IT NOW????
Adobe -it’s time you brought in a real software design team to work with all these tool developers……. and update the ps gui properly.
(NB for the clueless at adobe: i respect deke mc clelland’s long time observed critique of the photoshop gui design anolomys and left behind travesties. If you put together all his observations alone you’d have the beginning of the way to go .
meanwhile, after making this comment – the above exercise you made looks like a tragic symbol of just how littl you’re prepared to spend on proper PS gui development.
This is a joke, right? If not, doesn’t anyone remember good old “Microsoft Bob”? It was a disaster. Dumbing down the user interface may appeal to dumb users, but for those of us who have used PS for years, at least give us the option to use the previous interface that we are accustomed to using.
as i see its a proposal, and probably if its accepted its going to be an optional interface. I dont think that its going to be the “default” Being as an option, i find “funny” this one in order to experience a new dimension in design, more real, as an artist. I dont think i will use it every thay but in some cases i find this atractive!
As if. Look, if Adobe actually made Photoshop look like that, it would seem to be Microsoft’s bad “Paint” application. And Photoshop is not made for 5 year olds. If you could have that interface (I doubt that will happen) everybody would be buying Photoshop CS5, and it wouldn’t be considered as a professional tool anymore. And of course, because of that, Adobe wouldn’t be selling as much to pros, which would result in Adobe going bankrupt. Adobe isn’t stupid. Or at least I don’t think they are. It’s not that I want the same old boring interface we’ve been having for years, I just want something nice and pretty, but still as complicated, because I’m used to that to that complicated set of tools in Photoshop.
PLEASE ADOBE, IF YOU READ THIS, PLEASE OH PLEASE DON’T MAKE CS5′S INTERFACE LIKE THAT. PLEASE.
i don`t believe that the above criticism actually comes frm the pro`s…cmon give ADOBE a change if they want to..
i wish if adobe comes with an inbuilt app or plgin that allows the user to creatively design n apply the gui the way he/she wants too or at least provide such sets of gui themes for a change…
anyways gud job..
keep it up
Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Adobe CS5) is a collection of graphic design, video editing, and web development applications made by Adobe Systems. The collection consists of Adobes applications (e.g., Photoshop CS5, Acrobat, InDesign CS5, Illustrator CS5, Flash CS5), that are based on various technologies (e.g., PostScript, PDF, Flash).
And there are a lot of people that talks that adobe don’t see the ideas proposed. Let’s accept this!
Ha Ha. Its quicker and easier to make it from cardboard and tape, than to use Adobe software. And cheaper too. Ha Ha.
For the first time we have a visual interface that makes this software easier and more accessible for all, from kids to old people.
Hyperrealism makes photoshop more “on line” with the AVATAR trend.
CONGRATULATIONS.

to Boo: I agree with you completely. And believe this is an utterly stupid idea! Are we designing for kindergartners now?
